10 things for the whole family at ONBlackheath 2019

Can you believe we’re nearly in festival season already? ONBlackheath 2019 is right around the corner and we’ve got plenty to keep the whole family entertained for hours. So before you pack up your stuff and head down to the Heath - take a look at some of the offerings you’ll be able to immerse yourself in over the weekend.

From the Space Cowboy Jamiroquai to Grace Jones’ mega-hits which will make sure you’re a slave to her rhythm - there’s something for everyone at this year’s festival. We’ve also got performances from the legendary, Grammy Award-winning The Roots, the soulful swoons of James Morrison, Rag ‘n’ Bone Man’s instantly recognisable belters, UB40 featuring Ali Campbell and Astro and a whole load more.

All the way from Bonnie Scotland, ONBlackheath welcomes the return of the Edinburgh Festival smash hit ‘The Pop Bingo Disco’ on Saturday.

Forget smelly bingo halls with OAPs telling you to be quiet, this is bingo while dancing your heart out! You’ll be entertained with the best beats, banter and ball-less bingo - exclusively for kids.

The Science Museum Outreach Team bring an awe-inspiring, interactive experience to ONBlackheath 2019. On Saturday, ignite your curiosity with their Greatest Hits show where your jaw will hit the floor! They’ve handpicked all their favourite demos into this explosive show for all ages. From rockets to ‘magic tricks’, from instant ice cream to earth-shaking bangs, this is science at its most entertaining.

Budding astronauts and space intrigued individuals will be able to join them for their ‘Out Of This World’ show on Sunday. In this action-packed show, we’ll discover what it takes to become an astronaut, launch a rocket and explore the solar system. This show contains explosions, super-cool liquid nitrogen, eye-popping vacuums and wee drinking!

Did we mention there will be slime there too? LOTS. OF. SLIME.

What could you be doing on Sunday 14th July that’s more important than witnessing Mister Maker in the flesh? Join him and his Shape sidekick Rectangle for a fun packed show, perfect for kids of all ages and the grown-ups too!

Full of laughter, music and prize giveaways, this interactive family show will entertain everyone with its creative chaos.

The Actual Reality Arcade is a life-sized interactive game zone for all ages, inspired by classic arcade games. Dodge barrels, avoid lasers, build Tetris walls, shoot alien invaders and become Pac-Man! Enter the Actual Reality Arcade where you bring the games to life.

This isn’t just any mini zoo, at Maynard’s you’ll be able to meet amazing reptiles, amphibians and mega bugs! Ever wanted to touch a tarantula, stroke a snake or cozy up with a chameleon? Make sure you come down on Saturday where you’ll find a few of their captive bred, hand reared animals that you can learn about, find out how they live, thrive and survive, dispel myths and even face a few fears if you dare!

Andy Day, Star of Children’s TV, proudly presents Andy and the Odd Socks. Andy’s known for tackling dinosaurs, baby animals and being on safari, but did you know he’s also in a band? Catch him and his Odd Socks band consisting of Rio from Planet Rock on guitar, the mega Moxy on drums, cool Blu on bass and crazy Cousin Mac on the keys.

The world-reknowned Street Feast will be bringing the goodness from Model Market to this year’s ONBlackheath. It’s so good, you’re going to be wanting to eat here for breakfast, lunch and dinner! From delicious Spanish paella with juicy chicken to giant vegan sushi burritos and the winners of the London 2018 Pizza Festival, there really is something for everyone.

Come and get your hands dirty all while discovering yourself in clay. Taking inspiration from Phillip Pullman’s ‘Northern Lights’ stories, deamon is the animal spirit described in the books and doppelganger is a look-alike.

Families will be able to work together to make a group portrait and you can even take your work home with you at the end of the day!

This is art, with a heart for the environment. Come and see Otherworld Arts at ONBlackheath and make a flower to take home with you. Help us create a garden that has popped up ONBlackheath and to promote the 3Rs - Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.

You can experience all of this and more at ONBlackheath 2019 - make sure you grab your tickets now.

Weekend and Day Tickets are available here.
