ONBLackheath 2018 will be a homecoming gig for Squeeze, whose founders Chris Difford and Glenn Tilbrook formed the band in 1973 just down the road in Deptford.
Their partnership sparked a career which has produced 16 albums, success in both Europe and the USA and instantly-recognisable songs such as Cool For Cats, Up The Junction and Labelled With Love.
Squeeze took the sound of London around the world thanks to their supreme songwriting talent, and brought the house down when playing on the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury in 2016. ONBlackheath offers the chance to see these British music icons in their home city, and as Chris Difford said, this is more than just a festival for the band.
“I can’t wait to be playing back at ONBlackheath, the spiritual home of all things Squeeze. It’s where we all first met and last time we were on stage there I felt very emotional, not least because we were backed by the NHS Choir.”
