SHE DREW THE GUN
Touring nationally after causing a sensation in their home city of Liverpool, She Drew The Gun are fronted by Louisa Roach, a vocalist whose songs crackle with the drama and fire of Cat Power and Radiohead mixed with the politics of her working-class background.
Winners of the Glastonbury Festival Emerging Talent contest, the band’s electric live performances owe much to the journey they have taken to get to this point, particularly Louisa who raised her son and entered the education system in her late 20s before taking songwriting seriously.
With a feel of Patsy Cline and with a sound that had the first people from the industry who heard her perform falling over themselves to see her again, Louisa and her fellow band members manage to channel raw heartbreak, love, protest songs and more into their powerful sound.
Debut album Memories of The Future was released in April 2016 and although eyebrows were raised when the band, a psych-pop outfit, were booked to play the Cambridge Folk Festival this year, by the end of the set they had the crowd in the palm of their hands.
