Following up their 2015 breakthrough album A Flourish and a Spoil, The Districts will come to OnBlackheath with new release Popular Manipulations still fresh.
The Philadelphia four-piece, formed by childhood friends, play US indie rock with real songwriting craft and depth. The single ‘Ordinary Day’ gave their fans a glimpse of what to expect from the new album, which was then showcased at shows and festivals across the USA and Europe.
The OnBlackheath appearance gives the band a chance to celebrate the end of a momentous summer which cemented their place as one of the strongest US exports of recent years.
Lead singer Bobby Grote said: “Ordinary Day deals with a sort of personal alienation and the realization that you and the world you’ve existed in have changed. Sort of the feeling of coming through a tunnel and having no way of relating to things in the same way as before.
“It was written in late summer/early fall and came together quite naturally...Personal lives were in flux and we were sitting around Philly losing our minds.”
